Communication leaders

from across the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church recently gathered for the Communications Advisory Meeting, bringing together Union Communication Directors to discuss strategic plans for the coming years. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration, align communication priorities, and develop innovative approaches to sharing the church’s mission across the region.

Representatives from each union within the division participated in discussions focused on enhancing the effectiveness of communication ministries. The advisory provided a platform for leaders to share experiences, evaluate current communication initiatives, and explore new opportunities to reach diverse audiences through both traditional and digital media.

A key focus of the meeting was the development of forward-looking strategies that respond to the rapidly evolving communication landscape. Participants examined how emerging technologies, social media platforms, and digital storytelling could be used to amplify the church’s message and connect with members and communities throughout the division.

The gathering also emphasized collaboration and capacity building among communication leaders. Through presentations, group discussions, and planning sessions, directors worked together to identify best practices and develop coordinated communication efforts that support evangelism, discipleship, and community engagement.

Leaders also reviewed ongoing projects and outlined priorities that will guide communication initiatives in the years ahead. These plans aimed to strengthen the visibility of the church’s work across Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean territories while ensuring that messages of hope, faith, and service reach a wider audience.

By bringing together communication professionals from across the division, the Communications Advisory Meeting highlighted the importance of strategic communication in advancing the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to shape collaborative initiatives that will support effective storytelling and mission-focused communication throughout the region.
